In just seven months of its launch in India, Jeep Compass has crossed a new production milestone of 25,000 units. The right-hand drive version of the SUV is produced at the FCA facility in Ranjangaon with 65 per cent localisation. The company’s facility near Pune caters to markets like Australia, Japan, and the UK.
The Jeep Compass SUV is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine generates 160bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine that generates 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The petrol version gets an optional automatic transmission, while the diesel version is limited to a manual transmission only. The 4x4 option is only available in a top spec ‘Limited’ variant.
Priced under Rs 22 lakhs, the Jeep Compass has been a strong player in its segment. Moreover, its standard safety features like dual-front airbags along with ABS and EBD has made it a popular choice in the competition. As for features, the SUV offers Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a dual-zone automatic temperature control, electronic parking brake and three driving modes which include - mud, sand and snow.
