Jeep’s popular selling model, the Compass is likely to be introduced in an all-black version. Speaking to the media, Kevin Flynn, MD of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India revealed that the upcoming model will be called the Compass Black Pack edition and changes will be limited to cosmetic upgrades. The new model is expected to cost around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 more than the regular Limited variant.
As the name suggests, the Compass Black Pack edition will get blackened wing mirrors, alloy wheels and an all-black roof. It is to be seen if the upcoming model will be offered as a limited edition variant or will be offered as an optional package. Kevin Flynn further revealed that the company will introduce a new top-spec ‘Limited Plus’ variant. The Compass Limited Plus variant is expected to be offered with additional equipment such as powered driver’s seat, large 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a sunroof.
The Jeep Compass is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine generates 160bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine that generates 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The petrol version gets an optional automatic transmission, while the diesel version is limited to a manual transmission only. The 4x4 option is only available in a top spec ‘Limited’ variant. The company will also introduce the much awaited Compass Trailhawk in the country later this year or in early 2019.
