The compact crossover from Jeep has been spied testing for the first time. Fiat, who owns the Jeep brand name, had announced during its (Jeep) entry into India that it was developing a compact SUV and that India will be one of the first countries to get this vehicle. A report from Motor Authority says that this vehicle (codenamed B-SUV) will share its underpinnings with the upcoming Fiat 500X, a beefed up version of the Fiat 500L.
The compact SUV bears the multi-slat grille that is character defining feature of the Jeep line up. it was also spotted testing at a facility in North America belonging to the Chrysler. From what is visible, the compact SUV is expected to share many of its design features with the much larger Wrangler. However, the rear end is that of a Fiat 500L.
The report says the car will be offered in front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations and will be produced at Fiat’s plant in Melfi in Italy. It is also likely that Fiat will produce the car at Ranjangaon for the Asian markets.
