Jeep has announced that it will have 9 new models by 2022. This includes generational changes, mid-life updates as well as completely new models. Given the obsession with SUVs/Crossovers that the global car market is currently going through, Jeep is expected to emerge at forefront of the Italian-American conglomerate’s future efforts. At one end of the scale will be a new (India-spec) compact SUV that will be slotted in below the Renegade. It’s expected to find its way to other developing markets and should most likely become a Jeep global product. The Compass will undergo amid-life update while the Renegade will move to a new generation. Higher up, the Cherokee will move to a new generation and be joined by the Grand Commander as well as another 3-row SUV and Wrangler-based pickup truck. Above them, the Grand Cherokee will hit a new generation and be joined by another 3-row SUV. Finally right at top, Jeep will revive the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer brand name to sit on a range of 2-row and 3-row vehicles. Of these, everything from the next generation Renegade to the Grand Commander and Wrangler-based SUV will get options of hybridisation, autonomous driving and connected car technology. Above these, the Grand Cherokee, 3-row SUV and the Wagoneer vehicles will all be offered with PHEV technology, autonomous and connected car technology.
