New spy shots of what looks like a disguised Range Rover Evoque have surfaced on the web. However, on closer inspection it is pretty evident that it’s the upcoming SUV from Jaguar which is being tested in the UK.
As seen in earlier spy shots, the front-end design resembles Jaguar’s infamous C-X17 SUV concept. Also apparent is the extended wheelbase as well as longer front and rear overhangs in comparison to the Range Rover Evoque.
When launched in 2016, this new model will be powered by Jaguar’s new 'Ingenium' engine range currently made at Jaguar Land Rover's newly opened engine plant in the UK. Among this new engine family is the 2-litre diesel unit which will feature in the new XE mid-size luxury sedan.
In Europe, the SUV will be positioned in between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in the Jaguar Land Rover range. The automaker could also consider introducing it here in the Indian market although the possibly high demand for what is basically Jaguar’s first-ever SUV could delay the official launch schedule.
