It’s official or at least from the pictures it seems to be that Jaguar is developing an entry-level premium sedan (codenamed X760) to rival the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class. The all-new car will be rear-wheel drive and will be underpinned by the British luxury carmakers Aluminium heavy Premium Lightweight Architecture.
The test car that was spotted featured the words XF written on them but it is shorter in length, has a lower roof line, smaller doors, slightly re-profiled front and rear end as well as a new design for the exhausts. The car is expected to share many of its components with the XF and XJ due to having a common platform. However, we expect that Jaguar will fit smaller versions of the engines that power the XF and the XJ to keep the costs down and make the car easier to mass produce.
The X760 is also expected to spawn a variety of models like an estate, Coupe, Cabriolet and a crossover. While the company has not specified a launch date or anything else about the vehicle, it is believed that the car will be launched by 2015.
