Jaguar’s entry-level four-door luxury saloon, the XF, was spied testing in a disguised avatar in Pune. The pictures suggest that the British manufacturer has made a few changes to the exteriors of the car. The Jaguar XF is due for a replacement since it has completed more than five years now- a lot of time for any luxury car to be replaced.
The spy photographers at Gaadi.com say that the vehicle gets a new front bumper and aggressive styling for the headlamps. The Jaguar XF’s underpinnings will be a stretched version of the modular iQ[Al] platform, which the crossover CX-17 concept, displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, last year, boasted of. The company announced at the Geneva Motor Show recently that this same platform will also underpin the Jaguar XE, which is a BMW 3 Series competitor.
The overall weight of the car will be reduced by the use of aluminium in its construction. Apart from the cosmetic changes, the new model of the Jaguar XF is expected to be made available in new petrol and diesel options. A hybrid version might also be available.
We expect the new Jaguar XF to get more changes than 2011 models which included changes to the interiors and an additional feature- adaptive cruise control. The new Jaguar might be introduced only by next year and will be assembled at the company’s Pune plant where the current petrol and diesel variants are being assembled. It will go against the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6 when launched in India.
