Jaguar XFL confirmed for local assembly in China

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will locally assemble a long wheelbase version of the XF sedan for the Chinese market. A teaser image confirms the name while a release from the company says that it will be put together at the Chery Jaguar Land Rover plant in Changshu. 

Developed specifically for the Chinese market, the XFL will be launched at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. It will have the same engine and underpinnings as the standard XF but will be 100mm longer. This entire figure will go into extending the wheelbase and consequently adding more space to the rear of the car. The standard car’s wheelbase is 2960mm which means this model’s will extend beyond the three metre mark.

It will be the third locally assembled model after the Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. It is underpinned by the same aluminium-intensive platform found in the F-Pace and XE.

Commenting on the imminent arrival of the XFL, Murray Dietsch, president of Chery Jaguar Land Rover, said, "Jaguar Land Rover is a world-leader in the production of aluminium vehicles and is one of the largest producers of aluminium bodies globally.
