Jaguar has released more details on the Ingenium diesel engines of its new XE sedan. The British automaker unveiled the sedan at a function in London last month and will officially launch the car at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It is their rival for the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4.
The new oil burner is a 2.0-litre four pot turbo unit that is being offered in two states of tune-163bhp/380Nm and 180bhp/430Nm. The engine is expected to be offered with an eight-speed AT as well as a six-speed manual.
Jaguar has called it the most efficient diesel engine and has added that it will feature technology like variable exhaust valve timing and a cooled low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system. It is Euro-6 compliant and as per information from the manufacturer will use 3.7-litres for every 100km. The engines will be produced at the British automaker’s new plant in the West Midlands where it has invested 500 million GBP.
