The XE is powered by a new family of four-cylinder engines called Ingenium which comprises both petrol and diesel units. The petrol motors are 2.0-litre turbocharged units that are available in 200bhp/280Nm and 240bhp/340Nm states of tune. The oil burners as revealed earlier will be in the 163bhp/380Nm and 180bhp/430Nm states of tune. Both engines have been mated to an eight-speed AT box/six-speed MT. The top of the line V6 petrol produces 340bhp and 450Nm of torque.
The XE will compete with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Volvo S60. It is expected to be launched in India by the middle of next year and will be priced in the range of Rs 28 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
