Jaguar has brought their first ever SUV to India for the Auto Expo 2016. The stunning looking cat seats five and aims to conquer terrains which need not be paved with tarmac.
The F-Pace is an entirely new car and has just hit the international market. The car is based on Jaguar’s new aluminium intensive platform that keeps the weighing scale in check. While it can go off the beaten path, the F-Pace focusses more on the on-road dynamics.
The car looks like a typical Jaguar with the wide mesh grille with the swept back cat-eyed headlamps. The tail lamps have been borrowed from the F-type and look nice. The interiors, like all Jaguars are luxurious and the equipment is up to date as it is a new car. Under the hood you will get the 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel along with the new 2.0-litre inline-four Ingenium turbocharged oil-burner. Both the engines will be mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox, the latest in the Jaguar-Land Rover line-up. It may also get the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will be offered with the Jaguar XE.
In the United Kingdom, the five-seater F-Pace SUV is positioned below the XJ sedan. If it comes to India as a CKD, we can expect it to be priced at about Rs 70 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. At this price point, it will compete with the Mercedes GLE, the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7. The F-Pace has been brought to India just as it goes on sale internationally which means Jaguar is not going to waste any time launching it in India. The car can be expected to be launched by June 2016.
