Jaguar will make an announcement on the new production version of the C-X16 Concept at the New York Motor Show and this will begin a new generation for their model names. The production name for this Concept still remains under wraps and will be revealed at the Motor Show. The unveiling of the car shall be done at a latter stage. The announcement will be held tonight at 00:45 IST as we share the link to the webcast directly from New York.
The C-X16 concept was unveiled at the last Frankfurt Motor Show and the company is now ready to announce the production-ready model of the sports car. The sports car should go on sale sometime in 2013, but JLR hasn’t confirmed the markets where the car will go on sale first.
The C-X16 will be placed below the XK range and will probably be powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, which is one of the recently developed engines by the British marque. We aren’t sure when the hybrid version of the C-X16 will go on sale, but the regular petrol powertrain will go on sale with a convertible body style first next year.
