British luxury automaker Jaguar has just announced its return to global motorsport. During the autumn season next year, Jaguar will enter the third season of the FIA Formula E Championship as a manufacturer with its own team. As a reminder, Formula E is the first global single-seater championship for electric powered cars.
The Formula E will also give Jaguar-Land Rover an opportunity to make further developments into their future EV powertrain including motor and battery technology. After all, electric vehicles will play a vital role in Jaguar-Land Rover's future product portfolio.
Williams, a familiar name in the motorsport world, will be the technical partner to the Jaguar Formula E Team. The two brands have earlier worked together on the development of the Jaguar C-X75 plug-in hybrid concept car.
More details on Jaguar’s return to racing including the team drivers and partners will be announced in the run up to season three.
