The XE being the entry level sedan from Jaguar’s portfolio is now getting a rubber burning upgrade. The recent spy pictures have revealed that the more potent SVR version of the Jaguar XE is in the works. The SVR badge is worn by the more powerful vehicles which roll out of Jaguar and the Land Rover’s Special operation division.
Although the heavy camouflage does its job well, we do see some cosmetic changes. A more aggressive front end is anticipated along with the side skirt that runs along the side profile. The new sporty alloy wheels do catch the eye and the red painted calipers give away the racy nature of the SVR. On the rear bumper, we see a reworked diffuser and a keen eye will definitely notice the four exhaust tips.
The XE SVR will eat into the market place of the BMW M3 and the Mercedes C 43-AMG. Hence it needs to pack a heavy amount of arsenal under its hood. That being said, the F-type and the Range Rover Sport SVR from the JLR stable packed a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged block churning over 560bhp. It is unlikely that the XE SVR will carry the same block. Instead, the manufacturer might tune the current 3.0-litre V6 which produces 370bhp, to breach the 400bhp mark. Already being a good handler, we believe the manufacturer will rework the suspensions of the XE SVR. With the tweaks in the suspension, there might also be a reworked drive train for better usability of the few extra horses.
Once launched the XE SVR will rival against the Audi S4, BMW M3 and the Mercedes C 43-AMG.
