The new Jaguar XF might be unveiled at the 2015 New York Motor Show before going on sale later next year. The new car is expected to carry styling cues inspired by the younger sibling XE and a lightweight aluminium chassis that is bound to make it more efficient and dynamically better than the outgoing model.
According to a source, the XF will now get sharper styling cues and lively body creases and its dimensions will be made to mimic the XE’s coupe like silhouette.
The new XF like will be underpinned by the company’s new aluminium-intense iQ[Al] platform on which the smaller XE sits. This new chassis will help keep the weight down despite the size of the car going up to generate additional space at the rear and the boot.
It seems like Jaguar is preparing the XF to be the sportiest sedan among the competition. The XFR and XFR-S might also be replaced and the company’s new Special Vehicle Operations is rumoured to be developing a 600bhp V8 motor that might power the new XFR-S.
It is also a given that the new XF will get Jaguar’s new Ingenium range of petrol and diesel engines.
Jaguar will launch the car here, in under a year from its global launch in which case we can expect the new XF to reach our shores by early 2016. It is also the same year that Mercedes-Benz might also launch its new E-Class and BMW will launch its new 5 Series (G30), globally and here. So, the competition will be intense for the XF when it’s launched.
