Jaguar has announced that it will build more than 30 units of the XKR-S GT if there is demand for the vehicle. Adrian Hallmark, head of Jaguar, said that there was additional capacity build 20 more units and was possible to reach a total of 50 units.
The XKR-S GT was unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show and is a high performance version of what already quite a fast car. It uses the same mill as the standard car; a 557PS and 680Nm V8 monster.
How Jag has extracted the performance is by tweaking everything that matters on the race track – aerodynamics, suspension, tyres and more. Carbon fibre is used extensively to reduce weight and enhance the aero package with a redesigned front splitter, dive planes and extended wheel spats. The rear spoiler is bigger than ever before, the rear diffuser is also new along with aluminium under tray for maximum down force.
The other changes include height-adjustable adaptive dampers, active exhaust, carbon-ceramic brakes and super sticky Pirelli Corsa tyres. All these upgrades don’t come cheap and this leaping cat costs USD 1, 74,000 – that is Rs 94.5 lakh before taxes.
