Jaguar has launched the F-Type Coupe in India and is offered in three variants with the prices ranging from Rs 1.21 crore for the base variant to Rs 1.82 crore for the top-end R variant. The car was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and will be imported as a completely-built-unit (CBU).
The F-Type Coupe shares most of its underpinnings and mechanicals with the convertible F-Type, which was launched last year. The overall design is very similar to the roadster except for the roofline. The body is made from a single aluminum stamping with a high-strength aluminum beam linking the A-pillar to the rear pillar. The Coupe is available with either a glass or an aluminum roof, though Jaguar engineers claim that both cars are equally rigid.
The interiors and rest of the features of the cars remain the same as the convertible and the Coupe will retain all of the creature comforts like the luxurious leather upholstery, a touch screen infotainment system and the asymmetric center stack which features a prominent grab handle.
The F-Type Coupe will be available with two Ford-sourced engines, a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 and a 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The former is available in two guises, producing 340bhp and 450Nm of torque in the base variant and 380bhp and 460Nm of torque in the S variant while the V8 in the R produces a monstrous 550bhp and 680Nm of torque.
