Jaguar Land Rover may supply small engines to some of Tata Motors SUVs – thing that will help Tata cars get some cutting edge technology. JLR announced it may supply diesel engines and small 2-litre four-cylinder gasoline engines to Tata. The new units are currently under development in UK.
“We are open for synergies but if we look at the segments we operate in, there is not much scope for outright joint product development. But in terms of technology, engines… we can have commonalities. We can deliver engines to them for sure, including the smaller ones that we are developing.” said Ralf Speth, CEO, JLR.
Tata's SUVs range includes the Sumo, Aria, Safari and Grande and chances are all of these will get the new small engines from JLR.
