Jaguar Land Rover is in the growth stage and wants to make sure it continues this. In order to meet the growing demand in North America, the British manufacturer is planning to setup a new plant in that region.
This news was revealed by Ratan Tata, ex-chairman of Tata Sons at the South Carolina Automotive Summit. While confirming that he isn’t a part of the decision making process, he also said that the exact location of the plant hasn’t been decided yet. Apart from its four manufacturing facilities in the UK, Jaguar Land Rover has expanded in China and Brazil. In the past, the company has also been speculated to be planning to set up a plant in Saudi Arabia to cater to the Middle East market but nothing concrete has been seen at this end.
For the Indian market, the Indian owned British manufacturer has been assembling few models like the Jaguar XF and XJ along with the Land Rover Freelander at the Pune facility. Globally, JLR has been facing the heat from the German manufacturers but is in the process to counter them. For the same reason, the company will be launching the Jaguar XE, which will be an entry level model and the most affordable Jaguar to go on sale. This vehicle is expected to bring in volumes for the company, which will help its market share to grow globally.
