Jaguar Land Rover India has managed to achieve a YoY growth of 16 per cent in 2018. The Tata-owned British marque sold 4,596 units in the calendar year as compared to 3,954 units in the year 2017. Jaguar Land Rover recorded its highest calendar year volume sales in India to date.
The growth in sales in India has been credited to models like the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-PACE, XE and XF sedans. The carmaker claims that over half of all sales in 2018 was driven by SUVs. The carmaker introduced over 10 products in the country last year. The most important of them were the Velar, Evoque Convertible, the petrol version for the F-Pace, the 50th-anniversary edition of flagship sedan called the XJ50, and model year updates for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
Commenting on the sales, Rohit Suri, president and managing director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd, said, “The auto industry faced strong headwinds in 2018, especially in the second half with tight liquidity conditions, increased upfront insurance costs and increased lending rates. Despite that, the growth of Jaguar Land Rover in India has been very encouraging for us and we continue to focus on strong product launches and ever-improving customer experience in 2019 for the two iconic brands, Jaguar and Land Rover”
In 2018, Land Rover also celebrated its 70 years milestone and you can read more about it over here. The carmaker also launched the Advanced Connectivity Features under the InControl Apps suite called Protect, Remote Premium and Secure Tracker on the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Discovery. A white label financial services program called Jaguar Land Rover Financial Services was introduced last year to help buy JLR vehicles in both wholesale and retail.
In the coming year, we can expect JLR to bring in the new Evoque to our shores apart from the facelifted XE which will break cover soon. We are also awaiting the debut of the E-Pace in the country, which might happen in 2019.
