> Piloted by racing driver Randy Pobst, the electric Jaguar lapped the course in 1:48.18
> The all-electric performance SUV features twin Jaguar-designed motors with a combined output of 400bhp and 696Nm - 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds
Jaguar has set a production EV record lap time of 1:48.18 at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the new all-electric I-Pace performance SUV.Â
Jaguar originally brought the I-Pace to this renowned track in the U.S. as part of a promotional event with Motor Trend group. Professional race car driver Randy Pobst steered the stock I-Pace (that you see in the pictures) around the 11-turn track.
Jaguar expects the all-electric I-Pace ownership to be more exciting and practical than ever, thanks to its unique design and battery technology. A 90kWh lithium-ion battery comprising of 432 pouch cells (chosen for their high energy density and superior thermal management) is able to achieve a 0-80 percent battery charge within 40 minutes using a 100kW DC fast charging system.
Furthermore, Jaguar has placed the battery as low as possible (between the axles), so as to provide near optimal 50:50 weight distribution, and a low centre of gravity which essentially reduces body roll.Â
