Luxo-barges with performance that would put supercars to task are the ultimate power statement and Jaguar has just made one. Fresh out of the SVO garage, the Jaguar XJ wears a 575-R badge to strut the 575PS (567bhp) of power, the highest ever output from the flagship limousine.
Under the hood of the Jaguar XJ R 575 is the same old 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, the mainstay of all Special Vehicle Operations’ cars. The current XJ R is also propelled by the same mill but the power has been bumped up by 25bhp for the XJ R 575 thanks to the custom headers and tuning. The added horsepower catapults the XJ to 100kmph in 4.4 seconds and takes it to a top whack of 299kmph, faster than the current XJ R by 19kmph.
The XJ R is available only in the standard wheelbase and the bumpers both fore and aft have been tweaked to wedge the air better. The satin black paint, new rear spoiler, 20-inch black alloy wheels and the red callipers peeking from beneath give the XJ R 575 its visual go. Of course, the 575 R badge adorns the tail, the dashboard and the diamond-quilted seat upholstery.
It is just as luxurious as it is fast and comes laden with tech like 4G Wi-fi, a larger 10-inch touchscreen and all what the current Jaguar XJ has. And at a price tag of almost 94,000 pounds (Rs 79 lakh approx) it doesn’t seem to be too pricey. If you fancy one, here in India, you might be disappointed unless Jaguar is ready to import one for you. But then Jaguar sells only the XJ L in India!
