The F-Type is Jaguar’s flagship sportscar across the globe. While it boasts of the legendary 5.0-litre supercharged V8, the global line-up also had the V6 and I4 options. With the introduction of the inline-four cylinder engine in India, Jaguar has pegged the beginning of the F-Type at Rs 90.93 lakh ex-showroom, India.
Let us talk about the engine first. While it displaces measly 2000cc, the turbocharged aluminium Ingenium series of engines develops a whopping 296bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. With just 40 horsepower lesser than the V6, it is just as fast thanks to the lighter engine. The eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters catapults it past 100kmph in 5.7 seconds with the power sent to the rear-axle only.
You can opt for either the hardtop-coupe or the convertible version of the F-Type. Both the versions come loaded with luxury interior and features. The two-seater sportster competes with the likes of the Porsche 718, the Mercedes-Benz SLC and the BMW Z4. In case you are looking for hardtop, you can also consider it over the Ford Mustang for its gorgeous looks.
For the kind of money you would spend on the F-Type 2.0-litre, you can opt for the likes of the Mercedes E350L, the Audi S5 or the BMW 530d and save some money. The big fat SUVs like the Volvo XC90, the Mercedes GLS, the Audi Q7 and the Land Rover Discovery along with the styling Range Rover Velar also fit in the same budget.
