When Jaguar had launched the F-Type R, they believed that it was the benchmark in the sportscar segment. However, this model only marked the starting point for the development of the more powerful F-Type SVR. The latter is now available in India. This photo gallery depicts some of the drama that the carmaker wanted to create in the form of the F-Type SVR!
To exploit the lightweight aluminium sportscar's full potential, the carmaker had to accurately re-evaluate, re-engineer and optimise everything that contributes to performance and vehicle dynamics.
The F-Type's original form and shape is clearly evident, but then again, the SVR gains from a more aerodynamically designed body. It increases the sportscar's performance as well as presence.
A bodykit with a carbon fibre spoiler and diffuser add to the outlandish looks. And, apart from enhancing the car's appearance, they serve a purpose too.
Another striking feature on the outside is the pattern of the wheels. The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels finished in satin grey, which stands out against the body colour.
The distinctive F-type LED tail lights still have that magical aura. The titanium exhaust, however, reminds you of the purpose-built car with a tweaked suspension setup.
Under the bonnet of the car is an energy-packed 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 petrol engine. This has a massive power output of 567bhp and 700Nm of torque.
The engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Besides, the SVR gets all-wheel drive with torque vectoring unlike the F-Type R, which has rear-wheel drive.
All the enhancements made to the powertrain and driveline enable the F-Type SVR coupe to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds. It has a claimed top speed of 322 kmph.
Similarly, the convertible also boasts of a 0-100 kmph sprint time identical to the coupe. However, it has a lower top speed of 314 kmph.
The interior of the car benefits from SVR seats and aluminium paddle shifters. However, it is the SVR branding all over that screams for attention.
Jaguar has made sure that the SVR's performance doesn't come at the expense of comfort and convenience. The cabin gets SVR Performance seats finished either in jet black, siena tan or red leather.
Some of the standard features in the car include a 380W Meridian audio system and eight-inch touchscreen infotainment with navigation.
There's no compromise on safety too. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, dynamic stability control and emergency brake assist are standard features. Furthermore, there are parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers too.
Jaguar is offering both the F-Type SVR coupe and SVR convertible variants in India. The former is priced at Rs 2.45 crores, while the open-top sports car costs Rs 2.63 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi).
