Yes, you have read it right, the F-Type Roadster, the open top sports car and spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type sportscar will soon be seen on our roads (in small numbers obviously). Indianautosblog reports that the car will launched here in July and that they have confirmed the development with the Tata owned British luxury car maker.
Jaguar had unveiled the F-Type Roadster during the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September last year and a coupe version has also been spied testing. Reports suggest that the Indian market will get the 3.0-litre V6 mill that produces 380PS and 460Nm of torque as well as the top of the line 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill that produces 495PS and 625Nm of torque. Both variants will get the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The cabin design of the F-Type is based on their new “1+1 philosophy” – driver oriented cabin with an asymmetric center stack featuring a prominent grab handle.
We expect that Jaguar to price the F-Type in the region of Rs 70 lakh to Rs 90 lakh in a bid to ensure a price difference between it and the XKR sportscar. We also believe that the larger, more practical but equally powerful XFR-S sedan should also make its way here by the end of the year.
