Jaguar has launched its F-Type Roadster in India for Rs 1.37 Crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). The spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type was first unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and is expected to spawn a coupe that will be launched sometime next year.
The India spec F-Type is powered by two sets of engines; a 3.0-litre V6 mill that produces 380PS and 460Nm of torque and a top of the line 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill that produces 495PS and 625Nm of torque. Both variants get the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
The F-Type S does 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds and will go on to hit a top speed of 275kmph while it’s more powerful sibling does 0-100kmph in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 300kmph. The cabin design of the F-Type is based on their new “1+1 philosophy” – driver oriented cabin with an asymmetric centre stack featuring a prominent grab handle.
Commenting on the launch, Rohit Suri, vice president JLR India, said, “The Jaguar F-Type is our all-new two seater sports car and we believe it will be a game changer for the Indian sports car market. With its stunning design and driver focused engineering, this car will further enhance the appeal of our brand.”
During the launch, Jaguar also announced that it registered a growth of 68 per cent in the first quarter of this fiscal year and has attributed a chunk of the sales to the recently launched 2.2-litre Jagaur XF diesel that is assembled locally at their facility in Pune.
