A fully camouflaged version of the Jaguar F-Type Coupe has been spied. Last week pictures believed to be that of the F-Type coupe’s patent drawings surfaced on the internet. Some claimed that it was the F-Type Coupe while many other suggested that it was drawings of the C-X16 concept car that was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. However, with the spotting of the camouflaged car it is almost certain that there will be an F-Type Coupe.
The F-Type Coupe looks pretty much similar to the roadster as well as what was featured in the patent drawings. Since the design is the same, we expect that the engine line up and the underpinnings will all remain the same as the roadster.
The F-Type roadster is current offered in three trims – F-type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S; offering three powertrains, a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 (344PS/450Nm), supercharged 3.0-litre V6 (385.3PS/460Nm) and supercharged 5.0-litre V8 (501PS/625Nm). All three versions will be mated to ZF’s eight-speed automatic with paddles and a traditional gear stick instead of Jag’s rotary selector. 0 to 100kph comes in 5.1 seconds for the F-TYPE, 4.8 for the S model and 4.2 for the V8 S. The V8 S has a top track speed restricted at 300kph. We expect that this will continue with coupe also.
While the coupe is quite a while away from seeing the light at the end of the production tunnel, we expect that Jaguar will bring the F-Type Roadster to Indian market via the CBU route before the festival season. It is likely to be priced in the region of Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.10 Crore (ex-showroom).
