Jaguar has showcased the much-awaited AWD version of the F-Type at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This F-Type R Coupe AWD is one among the 14 versions of the performance cars from the automaker's range.
Though the manufacturer didn't reveal the exact specifications of the car, they announced that the car is capable of sprinting from 0kmph to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds. The new AWD version is 0.3 seconds faster than the conventional rear-wheel-drive F-Type R Coupe. Though this might give an impression that it is not much of an improvement, this development is a lot considering the addition of the all-wheel-drive option. This means better handling in corners and more stability. The car's top-speed still remains to be electronically limited to 297.6kmph (186mph).
This Jaguar F-Type AWD is expected to be still powered by the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill that produces 495bhp of power and 624Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The manufacturer will also equip the upcoming models with a manual gearbox soon.
Fans and enthusiasts have been teased with this variant of the two-seater sports car before. Jaguar will be unveiling more models of the F-Type in 2015. The automaker had recently announced its partnership with the Project Bloodhound SSC world land speed record team to set a new record of 1000mph. They might use this same supercharged V8 engine for powering the rocket that will be used for the record attempt.
