Not long ago did Jaguar officially confirm that it will introduce the F-Pace luxury SUV to its line-up. While the brand is still tight-lipped on the details, global brand director Steven de Ploey has reportedly said that the F-Pace will mark its official debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The F-Pace represents Jaguar’s upcoming crossover based on the C-X17 concept. Going by the previous reports, the F-Pace will be offered as a five-seater luxury crossover designed to rival the likes of the BMW X4 and the Audi Q5.
The F-Pace will be based on the same aluminium platform which also underpins the new XE sedan. What this means is that the F-Pace, too, will benefit from Jaguar’s all-new Ingenium four-cylinder range of engines. The top of the line model will be powered by a supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine; however, Jaguar could also offer its famed 5-litre supercharged petrol V8 that is currently used in a variety of cars.
When launched, the F-Pace will allow Jaguar to compete in the premium crossover segment that is currently filled with models like the Porsche Macan and the BMW X4.
