Jaguar’s much awaited F-Pace is due to be revealed later in the year and although it is still in the final stages of development, that hasn’t stopped Jaguar from generating a buzz around its new crossover offering.
As part of final testing, Jaguar ran one of the prototypes at the Tour de France as the official Team Sky support vehicle and here are the official photos showing the sporty silhouette of the crossover model. And because the production spec F-Type is under wraps until its global reveal later in the year, Jaguar made a special camouflage for this particular prototype.
The F-Pace represents Jaguar’s future crossover based on the C-X17 concept. Going by the previous reports, the F-Pace will be offered as a five-seater luxury model designed to rival the likes of the BMW X4 and the Audi Q5.
The F-Pace will be based on the same aluminium platform which also underpins the new XE sedan. What this means is that the F-Pace, too, will benefit from Jaguar’s all-new Ingenium four-cylinder range of engines. The top of the line model will be powered by a supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine; however, Jaguar could also offer its famed 5-litre supercharged petrol V8 that is currently used in a variety of cars.
The F-pace will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and will go on sale from 2016. When launched, it will allow Jaguar to compete in the premium crossover segment that is currently filled with models like the Porsche Macan and the BMW X4.
