Jaguar Land Rover India has commenced the manufacturing of the F-Pace SUV in India at their Pune facility. The 2.0-litre diesel Prestige variant is the first model to roll out of the factory and is now priced at Rs 60.02 lakhs (ex-showroom pan-India).
The F-Pace becomes the sixth model from Jaguar Land Rover product portfolio to be locally manufactured in India. Due to the local assembly, the SUV is now affordable by a whopping Rs 20 lakhs. Bookings for the 2018 model year F-Pace is now open and deliveries will begin by the end of November.
Rohit Suri, managing director and president, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd, commenting on the occasion, said, “Since its launch in October last year, Jaguar F-Pace has captured hearts and minds of Jaguar fans as well as its distinguished and discerning customers spread across India. The launch of the locally manufactured F-Pace signifies another milestone in our continued commitment and efforts towards ‘Make in India’ policy of the Government of India.”
The Prestige variant of the F-Pace retailed at Rs 80.29 lakhs since it took the CBU route to India. It comes packed with features like adaptive LED headlights, activity key, a Wi-Fi hotspot and Pro Services with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV also comes with premium features such as rear recline seats, four-zone climate control, 380W Meridian sound system and ambient lighting with 10 colours. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium diesel engine producing 177bhp at 4,000rpm and 430Nm accessible from 1,750rpm. Transmission is an eight-speed automatic sending power to all four wheels.
The initial response to Jaguar’s first ever SUV in India wasn’t very impressive. However, now that the F-Pace is manufactured in the country, the SUV is expected to garner more buyers for the British carmaker in India.
