Isuzu Motors have begun manufacturing their D-Max V-Cross pick-up here in India. The V-Cross is dubbed as an Adventure Utility Vehicle with proven off-road ability. This is the first car to be manufactured in India by Isuzu in their new manufacturing plant.
Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross represents a practical pick-up truck. The V-Cross is a premium 5-seater urban vehicle and also a very capable off-roader with four-wheel drive. It is powered by a 1.9L diesel motor that makes 147bhp and 350Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The D-Max was previously offered only as a commercial vehicle but the addition of the V-Cross variant should see it attracting more customers.
The D-Max is available in different variants for different purposes. The D-MAX Crew Cab is a 4-door pickup with a cargo deck that offers multi-utility capabilities with space for 5. The D-MAX Single Cab and D-MAX Cab-Chassis variant addresses the needs of India’s modern business and commercial vehicle owners.
Isuzu has also inaugurated their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in SriCity, Andhra Pradesh where the D-Max is being produced. The plant is spread over 107 acres of land and has a production capacity of 50,000 units and that can be later increased to 120,000 units.
Aimed at adventure seekers, the V-Cross embodies a reliable and powerful option for their multi-purpose needs. The V-Cross will face competition from Mahindra’s Getaway and Tata’s Xenon pick-ups.
