The updated Isuzu MU-X has been launched in India in 4x2 and 4x4 variants. The new model gets updated safety features and revised styling elements for freshness. Mechanically, the MU-X SUV continues to be powered by the existing 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The seven-seat SUV further strengthens its competition against the likes of the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner in India.
What’s good about it?
The new MU-X SUV from Isuzu has a sportier stance as compared to its predecessor. The Bi-LED projector headlamps now get LED day-time-running lights and the rear section has been redesigned for freshness. The SUV sits on larger 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. As for the interior, it gets Lava Black upholstery finished in fine quilted leather. The soft touch plastic and silver inserts make the cabin look more premium than before. The feature list includes an updated touchscreen infotainment system, roof-mounted screen, a USB port in the middle console box, 60:40 seats with integrated armrest and cup holders’ cruise control, electric driver’s seat and keyless entry.
What’s not so good?
The new Isuzu MU-X has been updated with more features and safety aspects, however, on the pricing aspect, the SUV seems to be little pricier given the nature of price-sensitive Indian market. That said, the MU-X does boast of offering a potent motor and a rugged off-road trait.
Best variant to buy?
The SUV is simply available in two variants – 4x2 and 4x4. For the ones looking for a regular commuter on the highway, the 4x2 should be it. The 4x4 version, on the other hand, awaits those who like wandering into the unknown.
Specifications:
3.0-litre diesel - 174bhp at 3600rpm and 380Nm at 1800rpm
The automatic transmission as standard

The new Isuzu MU-X now gets six airbags as standard as compared to the older one which offered two airbags. Moreover, the new model has a higher ground clearance of about 230mm which means that the SUV has better off-road potential.
