- The MU-X facelift gets an updated design and added features.
- Available in two trims – 4x2 and 4x4.
- Rivals the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour
After being in the Indian market for about a year and a half, Isuzu has launched the updated MU-X in the country for the price of Rs 26.26 lakhs (ex- showroom Hyderabad). Launched in two trims – 4x2 and 4x4 – the latter is priced at Rs 28.22 lakhs. The MU-X facelift brings in revised styling and added features.
The refreshed MU-X now gets a more aggressive fascia with what the carmaker calls ‘Eagle-inspired’ styling . The Bi-LED projector headlamps now come with LED day-time-running lights and a redesigned rear. Both the bumpers have been slightly tweaked to keep things fresh and the SUV now rides on larger 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The new MU-X also has a higher ground clearance of 230 mm.
The cabin gets sportier Lava Black leather upholstery done in fine quilted leather. The soft touch plastic and silver inserts make the cabin appear more premium than before. However, there are some much welcome additions to the features list, which includes – a roof-mounted screen, 60:40 seats with integrated armrest and cupholders, a USB port in the middle console box, cruise control, electric driver’s seat and keyless entry. The touchscreen infotainment system has also been updated. On the safety front, the MU-X now comes with six airbags as standard compared to just two in the earlier model, and Hill Descent Control (HDC).
Under the hood sits the same 3.0-litre turbodiesel putting out 174bhp and 390Nm. Transmission is a five-speed sequential shift automatic in both 4x2 and 4x4 guise. The 4x4 variant sports a ‘shift-on-the-fly’ select dial as well.
As was the case with the earlier version, the new and updated Isuzu MU-X will once again pose stiff competition to the other full-size seven-seater SUVs in India like the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
