Isuzu, the Japanese car maker, will launch its third SUV in India, the MU-X, on May 11 and the details of the car have been leaked on the internet just two days before the event. The MU-X will likely be launched in one trim only and will get all the bells and whistles worthy of a full-size seven seat SUV.
First up, the Isuzu MU-X will get the 3.0-litre variable geometry VGS turbocharged four cylinder diesel engine that develops 174bhp of power at 3600rpm and 380Nm of torque from 1800rpm. The shift-on-fly all-wheel drivetrain is standard and is fed by a five-speed sequential automatic gearbox. It doesn’t get a manual option and still manages to deliver an ARAI-certified 13.8kmpl in terms of fuel efficiency. It runs 17-inch alloy wheels and large 255/65 all-terrain tyres. It gets an independent double wishbone setup in the front and a penta-link setup in the back complete with gas shocks and stabilizer bars.
On the inside, the upholstery is all done up in leather upholstery with power adjustable front seats and the driver seat being six-way adjustable. The MU-X gets automatic climate control with a separate blower for the rear passengers along with reclining seats for the second row as well. For entertainment, there’s a seven-inch infotainment in the front with eight speakers and a special roof-mounted 10-inch DVD screen for the rear passengers.
In terms of safety, you have dual-front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (TCS) and hill start assist (HSA). The MU-X will be offered in four hues - white, brown, black and silver along with a standard warranty of 3 years and 1,00,000 km.
