Isuzu is planning to setup up a manufacturing plant at the Sri City integrated township in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The Japanese automaker is planning to invest around Rs 1,000 crore to build a plant which will be able to produce around 50,000 vehicles a year. If Isuzu goes through with the plan then it hopes to have the facility operational by 2015.
According to a report in the Times of India, the initial plan is to roll out the MU7 Choiz SUV and the V-Cross pickup. The report also says the homologation of these two vehicles was completed few weeks ago at the ARAI facility in Pune and an announcement in this regard is likely to be made on March 15. This means that the MU-7 that was spotted testing a few months ago by the petrol heads at Team-bhp was most likely undergoing this very same homologation process.
