Isuzu has recently launched the D-Max V-Cross at Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Marketed as an ‘adventure utility vehicle’ by the company, the D-Max V-Cross is essentially a luxurious version of the D-Max pick-up available in India. How luxurious? How capable? How practical? That can be decided once we get behind the wheel of the car. Till then take a look at these pictures of the new vehicle.
The pick-up market in India is still in its nascent stage. However, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross created quite a buzz at the Auto Expo when it was unveiled.
Thanks to its stylish looks, it just cannot be mistaken for the ordinary D-Max commercial vehicle. Best part is that it can also be registered as a private vehicle.
The V-Cross boasts of projector headlamps and 16-inch alloy wheels to add to the sporty look. Isuzu's intention is to offer a lifestyle vehicle to cater to all needs of a customer.
It gets some more bells and whistles in comparison to the standard D-Max. For example, the cabin boasts of steering-mounted audio controls and even a seven-inch touch screen audio system.
It is being offered as a double cab variant and its deck can be customised to meet the requirements of an owner.
It comes powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine that produces 134bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Whether it’s a bad patch of road or the rough path to a remote camping site, the V-Cross can bear it all. It comes in the 4WD (4X4) configuration and has ample ground clearance.
The V-Cross is a step above the Tata Xenon XT and the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway in the Indian market. It will be manufactured at Isuzu’s plant at SriCity, Andhra Pradesh.
