Isuzu is planning of setting up a facility in India for manufacturing diesel engines. The area where the plant will be located is not fixed and the amount of investment has not been decided yet, but the plan is in the pipeline.
According to a report on Financial Chronicle, Takashi Kikuchi, President and Managing Director of the Tokyo-based global manufacturer has confirmed about the company’s intentions. Currently the diesel engines from Isuzu are being used in many countries around the world. If the company comes up with the diesel engine manufacturing plant in India, it would be beneficial for us as our country would become an export hub for other regions over the world.
Isuzu India currently produces an SUV, the MU-7 in Hindustan Motors’ plant located in Chennai. The company was facing some problems when Hindustan Motors was thinking of selling off the facility. However, the company has set aside a space for Isuzu motors to be able to produce 5,000 units annually.
Isuzu Motors recently revealed their plans of making an investment of Rs 3,000 crore in South India. The Japanese company surely has extensive plans as it is coughing up so much money to set up the facility in the country. A producer of mostly commercial cars, utility vehicles and diesel engines, we can expect the first vehicle from the manufacturer to roll off the production line of the Indian facility by 2016.
