The legend of the Z from Nissan has been creating new fans in every generation. Tuners swear by the Fairladys while the doyen, the 240Z commands respect almost as much as a classic Alfa. So when the latest in the line, the 370Z, was phased out, the lack of any news of its successor had us worried.
But now, it is being said that the new Z is in the making. While some say it might turn out to be a crossover for all you want, we hope that Nissan doesn’t repeat the sacrilege that another Japanese carmaker committed. On the other hand, if it does turn out to be a real Z, two seats, front-engine and rear-wheel drive, this is what we think it might look like.
Nissan seems to have found its design language with the V-grille and the mix of smooth curves and slashed edges and we think the new Z will get the same. The boomerang headlamps and tail lamps with the signature rear fenders should make it to the next car while the 3.7-litre V6 might not.
A hybrid setup is what we expect with a force-fed 3.0-litre V6 running in sync with an electric motor developing close to 400bhp of power. It should ideally drive the rear wheels only and stir the soul.
