- Likely to carry over powertrains from the Grand Vitara
- To rival the Alcazar, Safari, XUV700, and more
Even as we wait for the production-ready version of the eVX, now called the e Vitara, to make its India debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, the folks at Maruti have begun public test runs of its next model.
Spy shots shared on the web reveal a heavily camouflaged test mule of what seems to be a seven-seat derivative of the Maruti Grand Vitara. Yes, Maruti also wants to grab a portion of the pie in the three-row SUV segment which currently includes the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Kia Carens, Mahindra, XUV700, and more, and this model will mark the entry of the brand in this segment.
As seen in the spy shots, the seven-seat Grand Vitara test mule looks quite different from the mid-size SUV it is based on. Up front, it will get a set of new headlamps, fresh bumper and grille, and a few more elements that will help it stand out compared to the Grand Vitara. The side profile will benefit from a set of new wheels and we expect a longer wheelbase to arrive in tow too, to accommodate the two extra seats. At the rear, not only is the bumper and taillight section fresh, but Maruti also seems to have made significant changes to the tailgate.
A quick peek at the interior of this upcoming three-row SUV from Maruti reveals a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system and an all-new dashboard. Details regarding the powertrains are unknown at the moment, though we expect 1.5-litre NA petrol and petrol-hybrid to be carried over from the Grand Vitara. More details are likely to be revealed in the coming days. Stay tuned for updates.
