Launched in 2007, the R8 was a result of Audi’s first attempt at making a proper supercar. Today, as we see it, the R8 is no less than a global phenomenon that has taken Audi to the supercar leader board. Even after all these years, the R8 still looks pretty striking although that hasn’t stopped Audi from creating a successor.
A leaked image showing what seems like the second-generation of the R8 has just hit the web. The car is due for an official global debut at the upcoming 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The leaked image was uploaded by an Instagram user who apparently sourced it from an Audi insider. On closer inspection, one can see that design cues including the new shape for the headlights and the hood on this particular vehicle have appeared in previous spy shots, leading us to believe that this could be the all-new R8.
The new R8 is expected to continue the same set of V8 and V10 engines albeit with more horsepower and efficiency. Audi’s famed quattro all-wheel drive system, too, will be on offer.
Audi will showcase the new R8 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, before putting it on sale by the end of 2015.
