Land Rover has already upped its ante in the super-luxury SUV space with the new 2018 Range Rover SV Autobiography to take on the Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming SUV from Rolls-Royce which we know as the Cullinan, as of now. New reports suggest that Range Rover might take another step ahead and build a Rangie with all the luxury and just two doors.
The super-luxury market looks for exclusivity, be it their cars or SUVs. Land Rover might have taken a hint from the success of the two-door luxe-barges like the Rolls-Royce Ghost and the Bentley Continental GT. And this is not the first time that Land Rover has come up with this kind of an idea. Before launching the Range Rover Sport, they had showcased the Stormer concept in 2004.
With the Special Vehicle Operations division coming into its own with the success of its products, there is a chance that the two-door Rangie might be a bespoke creation rather than a regular production-line car. It might also get the Evoque-style coupe-ish roofline which should complement the two-doors and the signature long hood of the Range Rovers.
As of now, there are no real signs of any of this happening, but the way Jaguar and Land Rover have reinvented themselves under Tata’s ownership, we might be able to spot a test mule within a year.
