Infiniti is on a spree of revamping its design language across the range. The Japanese luxury brand first spawned the Q50 sedan from the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept. Since then we have seen a slew of design concepts for various models in the manufacturer’s portfolio. Now, Infiniti has dropped a teaser hinting at a new QX80 Concept for the flagship SUV which will be showcased at this month’s New York Motor Show.
The luxury vehicle division of Nissan, Infiniti has a strong demand in the American market. The manufacturer’s current flagship SUV received an update in 2014 and this teaser could be a brief glimpse into the updates slated for the brawny SUV, which itself looks outdated compared to other updated vehicles in the line-up. The manufacturer, however, hasn’t disclosed any information on the QX80 Monograph apart from the word – “Huge unveil”.
The teaser image offers a few trifling details about the new flagship. We could see that the newly designed LED headlamps are in line with the carmaker’s new design language and take its cues from the QX50 Concept showcased at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. The massive grille and dramatic air vents are all in line with the concepts showcased previously by the carmaker. It is expected to carry a similar muscular design and an equally affluent interior like the QX50 Concept. The powertrain on the earlier model will likely be retained.
What remains to be seen is whether or not the carmaker will completely overhaul the current generation of QX80 or will it be just a cosmetic update based on the Monograph. Guess we’ll have to wait until New York Motor Show for further details.
