Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan, plans to return to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with another radical show car. Last year, the carmaker showcased a retro e-roadster-inspired Prototype 9 which we wished to see in production someday. This time around, Infiniti will be coming to the Pebble Beach with something they are calling “electrified performance concept”.
The show car is designed to signal the carmaker’s performance intention as they move towards electrification from 2021. The electrified concept is headed by Karim Habib, executive design director of Infiniti and his teams in Japan, UK and US. Habib described the new concept as providing clues to where the brand is heading. It will be a physical representation of Infiniti’s electrified performance future.
Infiniti is prepping an all-electric performance car and we expect the same powertrain could be previewed at the Pebble Beach. No official details of the electric car are available at the moment. The sketch teased by the carmaker shows a single seater speedster design. It is something similar to the Jaguar D-Type race car. However, the edgy speedster will be very futuristic with four-point harness and minimalistic steering wheel.
Infiniti also announced their plans to become an electric carmaker from 2021. The Japanese carmaker will only have an electric car in its line-up borrowing the technology from its parent company, Nissan. More details on the electric concept will be revealed on 28th August at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance in California.
