The brochure for the Indonesia-spec next generation Toyota Fortuner has been leaked ahead of its official launch in early 2016. The pictures reveal that the Indonesian market will get the car in six variants, two engine and transmission options.
The variants are SRZ (entry), VRZ (mid-level) and G (top spec). The petrol will only be offered for the Indonesian market in the SRZ variant with a 2.7-litre four-cylinder unit and only with an automatic transmission. The diesels will be offered in two variants both in the 4X2 guise as well as the 4X4 variants.
The engine in this case will be a new 2.4-litre four-cylinder unit that produces 148bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both the automatic and manual are six-speed units while in the 4X4 system drivers will be able to switch between terrain modes on the fly.
Coming to the cabin we can see features like climate control, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, vents row 2 and 3, a plethora of storage spaces, leather upholstery, and steering mounted audio controls. However, this is expected to change depending on the variant. The safety features include stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD and hill assist controls. The top-spec G models will also get projector headlamps and LED DRLs.
Now the more important bit…what will we see in the India-spec Fortuner when it is launched next year? All cabin features mentioned above are expected to be standard across the Indian variants. We will also get the 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel-engined version but most probably only in a top-spec variant.
