The India-spec Maruti Suzuki Swift has been spied sans camouflage ahead of its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. This is the fourth generation for the automaker’s popular hatchback and will be offered with both petrol, diesel power and for the first time automatic transmission as well.
The pictures reveal that the India-spec car will sport a different design for the alloy wheels but in essence remain the same as the international model. Signature design elements include the new Suzuki grille, wrap around tail lamps and door handles built into the C-pillar. It will have the same interior as we what we have seen in the Dzire but completely in black to match the sporty nature of the car.
Where this new Swift will differ the most from its predecessor is that it is underpinned by the new HeartTec platform (found in the Dzire and Baleno) making it lighter and stronger than the outgoing model, allowing for more features to be installed as well as better performance.
It will be offered with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel found in the current model but this time around we can expect that Maruti Suzuki will offer the AMT setup for the Swift for the first time both for the diesel and petrol engines.
The Swift is Maruti’s rival for the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio, Mahindra KUV100, Toyota Etios Liva and the Ford Figo.
