- Recalls 273 units of India-made Ford EcoSport units
- Minor issue involving European-spec fluid reservoir caps and manuals instead of US versions
- To be replaced free of cost
Ford has recalled 273 units of the India-made EcoSport over two minor issues. The US-bound model received European-spec fluid reservoir caps and manuals instead of the US versions. Although the issue is not too serious in nature, the federal motor vehicle safety standards mandates both the reservoir cap and owners’ manuals must be of US versions. Fortunately, there have been no reports of accident or injuries associated with the problem.
The list of the affected vehicles includes the 2018 EcoSport which was built at Ford’s assembly plant in Chennai between 27 October 2017 and 6 March 2018. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by the dealers and the brake fluid reservoir cap and owners' manual kit will be replaced to match up with the federal motor vehicle safety standards at no additional cost.
