Nissan had recently announced its ambitious plans for the Indian subcontinent and as expected, the first product in its line-up has been teased. The Nissan Kicks is a mid-size crossover SUV and is expected to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the upcoming SUV from Tata, the Harrier.
Built on the V-Platform globally, it will most probably be built on the Terrano platform in India to keep the costs at bay and to increase the level of localisation. But it will certainly continue to look just as sporty and chiseled as the global car. Under the hood of the Kicks, we are likely to find the tried and tested K9K series 1.5-litre diesel engine powering the front wheels and it might be offered in two states of tune – 84bhp and 108bhp.
Inside, the Kicks will look to impress the occupants with all the bells and whistles including climate control, touchscreen display, steering mounted audio controls, cruise control et al. Slated to be launched in January 2019, the car will be revealed in India in the last quarter of 2018 and we expect it to carry a price tag between Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs, ex-showroom in India.
