- The updated Jaguar XE gets tweaked cosmetics and added features.
- New Touch Pro Duo infotainment system added along with premium materials inside the cabin.
- Might arrive at our shores later this year.
Jaguar has given a mid-life update to its smallest sedan in a bid to keep it competitive against its German rivals. The XE received cosmetic updates on the outside and a host of new features on the inside. It is expected to arrive in India later this year.
The updated fascia gets a sleeker pair of headlights which extends up to the grille. The bumper has been redesigned as well, while the sedan sits on a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the bolder pair of LED taillights are complemented by extended rear bumpers. The exhaust tips sticking out of the integrated diffusers add character to the baby Jaguar.
On the inside, the XE gets a host of technologies which are directly scrounged from the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV. The centre console now gets a SportsShift gear selector instead of the rotary knob of old. Besides that, there’s the introduction of the carmaker’s Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with the digital instrument cluster and an all-new steering wheel design. The upgraded cockpit also comes with ClearSight rear-view mirror, and a digital screen for HVAC control in the centre console. Apart from that, a host of premium material has been used all around the cabin, claims the British carmaker.
Things have been rejigged under the skin, as well. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre Ingenium unit which can be had in either 247bhp or 296bhp output badged P250 and P300 respectively. The diesel is a 178bhp D180 unit which has a torque rating of 430Nm. The top-spec guise is equipped with an all-wheel-drive and it can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.7 seconds
Shortly after it goes on sale in the international markets, the updated XE will make its way to India. It will continue to go up against the likes of new-gen BMW 3 Series, updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4 facelift.
