Post much wait, the 2019 BMW 3 Series has been revealed at the ongoing Paris Motor Show 2018. The popular selling model in its seventh generation gets a new design and additional set of features over its predecessor.
Here below are its top five highlights -
New platform
The new model is now longer by 76mm and its wheelbase has been increased by 41mm. Based on the CLAR platform, the sedan is now also lighter by 55kgs.
Design
The new seventh generation BMW 3 Series now gets a larger kidney grille that takes styling cues from the 8 Series. The car features sharper LED headlamps with L-shaped DRLs. The vehicle gets larger air-intake which has been borrowed from the M-Sport version. The rear section now gets larger tail lamps that give it a fresh appeal.Â
Interior
As for the interior, the new 3 Series gets the 8.8-inch infotainment display that comes with a host of connectivity options and revised central console layout. This time around, it also gets the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant along with the optional 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch instrument display.
Engine  Â
Under the hood, the BMW 3 Series is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 255bhp and 400Nm of peak torque. The diesel version will be powered by a 3.0-litre turbo inline six-cylinder petrol engine with 382bhp and 500Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
Competition
The new-gen 3 Series will rival the updated C-Class and the upcoming A4 facelift in India apart from the Jaguar XE and Volvo S60.
